These meaty Buffalo wings will burn your lips. Great bleu cheese and
cold domestic beers. Michael says,"These are some LARGE and SAUCY
Buffalo Wings. Served up with a "friendly" biker crowd, big screen
TV and wild Buffalo Bills fans. RANDY's is a local tradition in
stuffin' face and droppenem' down the hatch."
Amherst
Elmo's
2349 Millersport Hwy
(716)-688-7237
Scott says, "I recommend ELMO'S on Millersport Highway in Amherst (it's in a shopping
plaza on the right, past the ITT Technical Institute and the senior's home).
They do jumbo, unbattered wings (and some other styles, like BBQ) and
offer a daily special of a single or double order and a pitcher of soda or
beer for less than $10 for a single or $13 for a large. Good bleu cheese,
too. I also recommend 'Billy Fries'- curly fries topped with melted cheeses
(and chili if desired) with a side of salsa.
Ideal for Mid-American Conference football fans who travel to UB Stadium for
a game- the place is a couple of minutes away from the stadium. Millersport
Highway is SR 263, accessible from I-290; go north."

Buffalo
THE Anchor Bar
1047 Main Street
(716)-883-3699
The original Buffalo wings! I will make the pilgimage. I was starting to wonder
if the Anchor bar was a myth. In fact Justin says,"I'm surprised to
not see this one listed. I moved to NYC recently, but I used to live
off of Elmwood on the west side in Buffalo and went here every
Saturday night. The wings are arguably the best in the city
(and therefore the world) with the possible exception of Duff's and
La Nova. The wings themselves are huge, very meaty and no batter.
I've never tried the hottest sauce myself, but I've heard varying
remarks. From the people who love hot and spicy foods, they said it
wasn't that bad. Plus, there's live jazz every Friday and Sat. night
with Jimmy Gomes and the Jazz Example featuring Miss Dodo Greene,
which is always a great show. It always makes for a great night."
V.Gabrielle adds this, "Being a Buffalo native, I'm partial to the Anchor Bar.
Rooties (on Millersport) was good, but I think it went out of business. Duff's is good.
Any pizza place in Bflo does passable wings. (Note: "Pizza and a bucket of wings" is
considered odd everywhere but Bflo.) Wegman's wings are surprisingly good, fat and spicy.
Outside of Bfflo, good luck. They always want to bread them, and call them "Buffalo Wings"
(grrrr.) The only decent breaded wings I've found are Cluck U in S. Orange, NJ.
My suggestion (and what I do, now that I live in SF): buy uncooked wings, have
someone you love send you Anchor Bar wing sauce, and make them at home! (And if they really
love you, they'll send you a bottle of Aunt Rosie's Loganberry to go with your wings. ;)"

These medium sized Buffalo wings will burn your lips. Good bleu cheese

The blazin wings will burn your mouth but they are good. The bleu

Duff's Sheridan Patio
3651 Sheridan Drive
(716)-834-6234
This wings fan say's he's lived in Buffalo for twenty years and there's none
better than Duff's wings. They have meaty, buffalo style wings (naturally),
adequate bleu cheese and lots of imports. He says the sauce is lip blistering
as illustrated by the message on the waitresses' shirts. They read, "Medium
is hot, medium hot is very hot and hot is extremely hot." Any questions?
In another review Mike says,"These are the best damn wings I've ever had.
They're big, sloppy, and taste great. I've lived in Buffalo for six
years - these wings are even better than The Anchor Bar!" Mike is the third
person to tell me that Duff's beats the Anchor Bar. I think I would really
enjoy finding out for myself. It will happen in '99.
Jennifer adds,"The Best chicken wings in BUFFALO.. Trust me.. I live here and love them."
La Nova Pizzeria
371 W Ferry
(716)-881-3303
These meaty Buffalo wings willburn your lips. They have great bleu
cheese, but serve no beer.
Chris says,"Growing up in Buffalo you almost have to live in a cave to
not have at least tried LA NOVA wings. They have been shipped to our
troops while they were in the middle east and served to President
Clinton when he visited Buffalo. More importantly they are the only
other wings that live up to the standard that The Anchor Bar has set
for the city and the rest of the world. (Not to mention it has
Buffalo's best barbeque wings.) These wings are hot, but not so much
that you cannot taste a certain unique flavor. The blue cheese is also
better than you recieve with most wings. (Lacking that sort of mayo
taste.) With this in mind LANOVA boasts yet another reason why
QUAKER STEAK does not dare open a resturant in Buffalo!"

Steve say's,"This establishment is tucked away in Suffolk County, Long Island, New york.
It is a full-fledged, Irish sports pub. Their WINGS are excellent, and the
beer is ice-cold. Not only can you enjoy the wings and beer, but there are 10
t.v. screens located around the pub showing various sporting events,
worldwide. Places like this keep me away from those crowded commercial
franchises, where service with a smile is taught, not learned and the food is
microwaved..."

These medium sized, Buffalo wings will make you sweat. Good bleu
cheese and top quality domestic beer if the name is any indication.
Scott says, "Good wings; large portions, pretty tasty. I wouldn't go
out of my way for them, or tout them as a prime example of wings, but
I've had them as my dinner more than once.
This is a brew pub, so although their beers are "domestic"
(all of them being brewed on the premises), they are quite good.
Their Black Forest Amber won a gold medal in the '99 Great American
Brew Festival."

Lightly breaded, medium sized wings with great bleu cheese and burn your lips sauce.
No beer here ,but read on McDuff. Chris says,"Hey Ralph, here's a good one for ya.
Though I haven't been back to Buffalo for a few years, I know of a great little place
you might want to check out. I'm certain they're still in business. Check 'em out on
your '99 trip to Buffalo. They're just north of the city; probably a fifteen minute
ride from the Anchor Bar. You ever been to a wing/pizza joint where: when they ask
you how ya want your wings, they mean more than just hot, medium, or mild? This place actually asks you if you
want them battered, lightly battered, or not battered at all! They go further yet!
They'll ask you if you prefer them crisp & dry, a little juicy, down right sloppy,
or something in-between! If that's not enough: they provide a variety of sauces;
everything from Asian to European. As for the fans of HOT: this is THE place. Ask
for their "Stupid Suicide Sauce." This stuff goes far beyond reason. They dry their
own variety of hot peppers out back, and extract the juices for their homemade sauce.
This sauce is well named, and this is coming from a guy that likes 'em a bit on the
hot side. Also, a bit of a twist: they serve carrot sticks with the usual bleu cheese
and celery, and provide sliced cucumbers and ice water with the Stupid Suicide Sauce
to help cool the taste buds. As for the brew: they don't serve any, but have a close
relationship with the bar next door (15 ft/5m away, door to door). In fact, you can
walk in, order your wings, and tell them to deliver them to you at the bar next door.
This place serves both domestic and import brews, but also provides a pretty good
variety of Canadian beers. Check it out. Order a wing variety platter. You won't be
disappointed. Ask for a guy named Mark, he'll hook ya up." Sounds like something for everyone.

Large, meaty, Buffalo wings served with good bleu cheese and several cold
imported beers to choose from. Jonathan says,"This town tavern north of
Niagara Falls offers some of the best wings in the WNY area- they're huge
and made the proper Buffalo (no batter) way. We ordered medium- just spicy
enough." Jonathan also mentioned that he enjoyed the company of a great
friend there. Sounds like a complete experience.

(crispy on the outside & moist on the inside). The sauce is rich and
tasty. The beers are ice cold. 'nough said."

These meaty, 'voodoo' wings will make you break a sweat. Like Buffalo style
wings they have no batter. They have bleu cheese dip and a selection
of several imported beers. For something quite different,
Scott suggests, "Blackened Voodoo Wings. More of a dry rub than a
sauce, they're Cajun-style blackened. Very Good! FYI, they have a web site now
, great restaurant--check out their calendar.
Every summer, they sponsor a weekend-long blues music festival in Westchester
County, NY." They sound interesting,
I'd like to try them.

These meaty, Buffalo style wings will make you break a sweat. They
have good bleu cheese. Sorry, no beer. Newell says,"Fine, spicy wings,
loaded with flavor. I went with a friend who is bald. He ordered
the wings hot hot. As he was eating them sweat started pouring
from all over his head. It was severe - he wasn't able to finish
them. Many in the area recommend Napoli for wings and brick oven pizza."
Some would say not to get such hot wings. I say, wear a hat.

Good bleu cheese and several imports. Fernando says, "Having lived in
Buffalo and tasted the wings at Entourage (they're good), I can truly
say these are the best in N.Y.C. The wings here are cooked to just
the right crisp and served piping hot. The sauce is thick and tasty."

I don't have many details, but Robert says,"These are NYC's #1 Buffalo chicken wings."
A second review gives us some more details.
These are meaty, Buffalo style wings that will burn your lips.
They have a great bleu cheese and several imported beers.
Edgar says," I'm not an expert when it comes to Buffalo wings,
but the Entourages wings are by far the best that I have
had. They are juicy yet not greasy. They are crisp, delicious
and fresh. You can have them made to your taste. Hot, medium or mild.
I prefer the hot ones. The price is also great. You can have 25
for only $7.95 accompanied by a side order of bleu cheese, carrots and celery.
The ambience is excellent and the service is outstanding. If you are ever in the East Side,
this is the place to go for Buffalo wings."

Virgil's Real Barbeque
152 W. 44th St.
(212)-921-9494
Virgil's wings are meaty and lightly breaded. They have a great bleu cheese dip and all the imported
beers. The wings are a spicy barbeque, but not sweet. Scott says,"They're nicely spiced even though
I usually prefer my sauce about to spontaneously combust. They have a lot of interesting beers.
You'd better set aside a few weeks if you're going to try them all." Scott seems to have a knack for finding
the interesting wings.
Northport

These meaty, Buffalo wings will burn your lips. Good bleu
cheese and several imported beers. Melliott says,"We have had several variations of their wings.
They are made with a habanero base and the taste is incredible.
They have one version which is called "Hot as you can make 'em." They are tasty, but almost
unbearable the next day if you know what I mean. We recommend the Death Row version
(somewhat blistered lips, but really flavorful)! Drop in if you are on LI."
Ridgewood
Cooper's Ale House
7026 88th St
(718)-894-5458
These medium sized, Buffalo wings will make you sweat. Several imported beers
, no mention of bleu cheese. dd says,"I have tried tons of wings in a lot of different places.
Restuarants, home recipes, the internet. This place has 'em all beat! BY FAR,
THE ABSOLUTE BEST BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS ANYWHERE! Ask anyone who has ever eaten them.
They are addictive. I just can't get enough of them! P.S. CAN YOU GET THE RECIPE? PLEASE!!!!"
Rochester
Jeremiah's Tavern
1104 Monroe Ave.
(716)-461-1313
Jeremiah's meaty, lightly breaded wings will scorch your lips. They have great bleu cheese and
several kinds of cold, imported beers. Rick says,"Recently I traveled to Rochester, NY on business. A couple
co-workers took us to Jeremiah's (in or near Rochester). Absolutely the hottest wings I have
EVER had !!! They puree peppers, and actually dip their hotter versions in the pureed peppers.
They have 5 levels of "heat": Mild, Medium, Hot, Catatonic, and Wise Guys. The Wise Guys are
pretty damn hot !!!. So hot a friend told me my lips were blue. I didn't believe it until I saw
somebody else had the same thing. These things are so hot, your lips and tongue go numb. They
are actually too hot to eat a lot of, so we stepped down a level to the Catatonic. They are still
pretty hot, but bearable. The Wise Guys are just a macho thing we just had to do. They dared us. Our waitress told us some
people send Wise Guys back they're so hot.
We asked her to have them make up a special batch for us. we dubbed this batch "Hard Ass" One
word..."WHEW !!!!!!!" We challenged the cooks, and they stepped up!! If you're ever in the area,
you HAVE TO go there."

Scarsdale
Candlelight Inn
519 Central Park Ave
(914)-472-9706
These medium sized, Buffalo style wings will burn your lips.
They have great bleu cheese and
lots of cold, imported beers. Shannon says,"These are by far the
best wings I have ever had. They have mild (I call those WUSS.),
hot (I call those WUSS.), extra hot (I call those AWESOME.) and
Cherynoble II (I call that just plain crazy.) We asked the waitress
if anyone really gets Cherynoble II, and she said not really
(so it is not just me). But the extra hot hits the spot everytime.
It has just the right flavor and spices. Their wings are just the
right size, not too big where by the time you get near the bone there
is no sauce left and by the 3rd piece you are sick of chicken meat.
They are not small either. They are big enough that if you know how
to do it right like myself you can put one in your mouth and pull
out just the bone. My friends an I try every wing place in our reach.
We look for four things: Taste of the sauce, spiceyness, quality of
the chicken (size and taste), and consistency. This place has got all
four. They can not be beat. I recommend them to anyone. I recently
had to move to another state and the thing that upset me the most was
to have to be that much further away from the Candlelight. I am
still looking and if I find anything close I will let you know. I
even tried Blondie's in NYC. They come close but no cigar. If
you know of anything better please email me @ sonso@earthlink.net"
Tobias says, "I'd like to echo the current review of "The 'Light" and
say that in my lifetime wings quest, these are still the best.
Like my father before me, I grew up 5 minutes from this place, and
was schooled at the 'Light from an early age. Again, the extra hot
have that rare hot/flavor balance. I have tried the Chernobyls... one
bite and I was done (and I usually order the *hottest* wings on the
menu). My advice if you ever show up is to get hot or extra hot with
some Chernobyl sauce on the side. Good selection of beers for the size
of the place (tiny), and the other food is amazing if you need to
bring someone."
Seneca Falls
Pumphouse
16 Rumsey St
(315)-568-9109
These meaty, Buffalo style wings will make you sweat. They have good bleu cheese and
several kinds of cold, imported beers. John says,"I love hot hot wings and generally am either
very disappointed or marginally satisfied with unknown restaurant wings. But, this place has
absolutely the best combination of flavor and heat (Tough Guy is what they rate it as) I've had
at a pub/restaurant anywhere. You get a dozen for $5, but they're so meaty you'll feel like you
ate twice that or more. The place has a nice style to it as well and the staff is tremendously
friendly. If you're in the Finger Lakes area, you owe it to yourself to stop here."

The way I like them. Mike says, "Originally located in the airways hotel at Buffalo Airport, they moved
to the Lord Amherst Hotel. . .without a doubt the best wings in the world.
They used to hold up planes at airport so flight crews could get
deliveries of hot wings b4 take off. Jumbo sized (8-10) your choice
of sauces, they know the secret (sauce them immediatly after coming
out of fryer, you can't wait, sauce has to sear into hot wing)and then,
the chunkiest, freshmade blue cheese dressing, m m m m great. They
sell over 5,000 pounds a week if that tells you anything. Beer is also
their specialty, they also operate a first class micro brewery, home
of the world famous "Buffalo Lager". Next time you're in Buffalo tell 'em
Mike from Curtze sent you. Delicious!" That settles it. I need a drool guard for my keyboard.
Staten Island
Applebee's Neighborhood Grill
2655 Richmond Ave.
(718)-370-3761
Hillary says,"Last year I didn't really like wings that much, but
then my friend took me to this Chinese Buffet that had yummy wings. Then I
found my favorites at Applebee's. They'll give you extra buffalo wing sauce
and blue cheese, which are both tops. I was there last night because
they've got half-price appetizers from 10pm until closing! 2 orders between
the 3 of us and extra wing sauce to dip my salad in. Yummy. I'm getting
hungry just thinking about 'em :)"
Manor House
917 Manor Rd
(718)-494-9742
Meaty Buffalo wings that will burn your lips. Great bleu cheese and
several imports. Robert says, "This place has a resturaunt,
a fully stocked bar, and even a party hall upstairs. I have tried
all the wings on Staten Island, and most of them are either mushy or
battered. These are the only TRUE buffalo wings on Staten Island,
that I actually drive over 10 miles just to pick up wings and
bring them home . . Their staff is AWESOME, and the beer is always a
degree from frozen. Mention Rob if you go there for a "few extra wings"
in your order . . :-)"
Suffern
Mountain Valley Brew Pub Inc.
122 Orange Ave.
(914)-357-0101
These spicy, meaty, Buffalo wings come with great bleu cheese and home grown
beers. Scott says,"Excellent smoked wings, totally unique in the world of chicken
parts. Don't forget the added bonus- ITS A BREWERY- Woo Hoo, several
varieties of their own beer fresh and on tap! (Much better than the Sam Adams
brew pub in Boston)."
Syracuse
Pizzaz Pizza Inc
1916 South Ave.
(315)-422-1033
These meaty, wings have a tasty sauce that will burn your lips. They come with a great bleu
cheese but no beers. This is not a sit down place but a delivery place. So pick up some beer on
the way home, then give them a call. Mike says,"These wings are the best in Syracuse. They are
big; probably because of the generous supply of batter they put on them. I like to get the wing
sauce and bleu cheese on the side and dip the wings first in the bleu and then in the hot
sauce----mmmmmmmgooooood. This is a delivery place, so They deliver to most of the south and
west side, and even on Onondaga hill. I grew up in Syracuse and noticed you didn't have a
syracuse listing--thanx, mike" We do now. Thank you, Mike.
Watertown
Wing Wagon
71 Public Sq
(315)-782-1225
These meaty, Buffalo wings will burn your lips. They come with a great bleu
cheese but no beers. Marcus says,"I was just looking at your site and
I couldn't believe that Wing Wagon wasn't on it. Their insanity sauce
is the tastiest, hottest sauce that I've ever tasted.
These wings are definitely the best. I was in Watertown because of
the military and I would go back just for the wings.
I have friends in places like Hawaii, Florida, and Washington who
dream about the wings everyday. Too bad there is no beer, but there is
a bar next door!" That'll work!
